Helio Lima
Helio was born in Brazil and started dancing at the age of
10. He studied with Patricia Salgado at Petite Danse SChool
of Dance in Rio de Janeiro for seven years and in 2010 he was
awarded a Jerome Robbins Foundation Scholarship to study full-time
at the New Zealand School of Dance. After graduating, he won
the Todd Corporation Scholarship and a place with Royal New Zealand
Ballet in 2011.
Other accomplishments include placing amongst the top 10
finalists at the 2009 Youth America Grand Prix ballet competition
in New York and winning the Sir John Logan Campbell Ballet Award in
Auckland in 2010.
One of Helio's performance highlights to date is the Bluebird
pas de deux in Marcia Haydée's production of The Sleeping
Beauty with West Australian Ballet.
