Each year we have many exciting Education Events for schools and the community to help bring you closer to your national ballet company. Sharing our love of dance is at the heart of the Royal New Zealand Ballet's Dance Explorer education programme. - What is Ballet? DVD resource available now!
Royal New Zealand Ballet has created a dance education resource for schools called What is Ballet? Company dancer, Shannon Dawson, is seen working with a group of students at Maidstone Intermediate School over a series of lessons. Shannon teaches some of the basics of ballet – foot and arm positions, plies, balances and lifts etc. He also teaches the students some of RNZB’s repertoire, including excerpts from the ballet Peter Pan and La Sylphide. Students are then guided into their own dance making using the material that Shannon has taught them. To preorder your What is Ballet? DVD download an order form here
