Ballet Bites

Christopher Hampson’s Cinderella looks set to become another family favourite. Last year’s end of year production broke into
the record books after it was seen by 46,000 people. Some fans who didn’t buy their tickets early enough and missed out,
have already contacted the Royal New Zealand Ballet asking when we are going to bring it back!

Watch out for the new TV One series of Artsville later this year. One of the episodes will feature the documentary on the
Royal New Zealand Ballet’s tour of China last year, during which the Company performed Cinderella and a triple bill programme.
The tour was hugely successful for the Company, with full houses in Shanghai, Suzhou and Beijing.

A more generous tax treatment for charitable donations applies from this month. It aims to encourage charitable giving by allowing a more generous tax rebate for donations to registered charitable organisations, including the Royal New Zealand Ballet. There is now no limit on the amount that can be claimed as a tax rebate for charitable donations. Individuals and companies can claim tax rebates up to the full amount of their donations. For example, a donation of $3,000 under the old rules gave the donor a tax rebate of $630.
Under the new rules, a $3,000 donation will give a tax rebate of $1,000 - an increase of $370.
