Clytie joined Royal New Zealand Ballet in 2005 after eight years dancing in Europe. She trained at her mother’s school, the Philippa Campbell School of Ballet in Auckland, starting at the age of five. At 17, Clytie joined the Deutsche Opera Ballet in Berlin where she danced for more than six years, before moving to Vienna’s Staatsoper Ballet.
Clytie has danced many lead roles with RNZB including Kitri in Don Quixote, the Sylph in La Sylphide, Queen of the Wilis in Giselle, and Carabosse and the Lilac Fairy in The Meridian Season of The Sleeping Beauty. Her role as Lady Capulet in Romeo & Juliet was described as a “knockout”. Clytie received critical acclaim for her leads roles in all three works in 2010’s From Here to There, which she also performed during RNZB’s European Tour in 2011.
