
Katie Hurst-Saxton is from Christchurch where she trained at the International Ballet Academy under Sherilyn Kennedy and Russell Kerr. Katie joined the company in 2002 and in 2003 she gained her Royal Academy of Dance Solo Seal.
Katie's spirited, musical approach has secured her a number of principal roles and notable performances include Kate in Madame Butterfly and Swanhilda in Coppelia, Lucy Westenra in Dracula and Odette/Odile in Swan Lake.
In 2006 she “danced the coveted role of Giselle with endearing tenderness and sensitivity” with another reviewer noting “That Katie Hurst-Saxton can achieve Trimmer-like theatrical intensity while delivering technically masterful dance is astonishing”. Last year she impressed audiences with her portrayal of Cinderella in Christopher Hampson's Cinderella. "The exquisite Katie Hurst-Saxton was a heart stealer". Katie lists rock legends Freddie Mercury and David Bowie as her musical inspirations.
