Kohei joined Royal New Zealand Ballet at the start of 2010. He started ballet at the age of 11 in Japan. His talent was evident and he received a scholarship to further his training at The Australian Ballet School where he enjoyed performing in their season of The Nutcracker.
A career highlight for Kohei was performing the role of a tourist in The Meridian Season of Carmen as he has a passion for playing comical roles. In 2011 he performed the roles of Pinocchio and the adventurous puppet Arlequino in Pinocchio in TOWER Tutus on Tour.
When he is not rehearsing with his RNZB colleagues, Kohei enjoys playing games, watching movies and Japanese TV shows.
