
Australian Michael Braun joined the Royal New Zealand Ballet in 2005 making his debut in the company’s triple bill season, performing the central pas de deux in Concerto and a solo in A Million Kisses to My Skin, prompting one critic to remark: “Michael Braun seems to set impossible goals of virtuosity and them delivers with beguiling ease.”
As Charles in The Wedding one reviewer noted: "Braun's fluid, expressive movements are gorgeous". Michael also danced the role of Albrecht in Giselle. Last year Michael performed the role of the Prince in Cinderella. "Michael Braun was a picture of confidence and precision".
Michael trained at the Australian Dance Performance Institute, winning first prize at the Society of Dance Arts competition while studying. As a soloist with the Queensland Ballet he danced the lead roles in Peer Gynt, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Forsythe’s Approximate Sonata. Michael and his wife Sonya have three young children. Between performances, Michael enjoys nothing more than spending quality time with his family.
