Rory, who joins the Royal New Zealand Ballet this year, first started dancing when he was six years old, learning jazz, tap and ballet at the Anne Fraser School of Dance in Queensland. When he was 12, he took lessons at The Australian Ballet School and two years later enrolled at the Queensland Dance School of Excellence.
He has won several awards over the years including the Australia Day Youth Cultural Award for Classical Ballet. He was also a finalist in the Alana Haines Australasian Awards. He went on to further his training at the New Zealand School of Dance, and recently attained his Solo Seal.
Last year, while studying at the New Zealand School of Dance, Rory joined the Royal New Zealand Ballet's season of Cinderella. He described it as a “massive learning experience”. To cap off a great year, Rory was awarded the Todd Corporation Scholarship last November.
