The Protecting Veil

Graeme Murphy's exquisite work The Protecting Veil is performed to the haunting music of celebrated English composer John Tavener. The poetic aesthetic of the work is flawlessly matched by the work of award-winning Sydney-based lighting designer John Rayment.

The dance movements, predominantly from upstage to downstage, are cut by a lone dancer who enters consistently from the opposite-prompt side of stage in a series of incomplete crossovers - "a soul swimming at cross currents in a sea of inexplicable emotions".
