Choreography: Now based overseas, former RNZB dancer Andrew Simmons returns to premiere this work. It was inspired by the music piece, Spiegel Im Spiegel, which loosely translates to “mirror in the mirror”.
Design: Tracy Grant Lord’s design has been kept deliberately simple. Grey on grey layering of fabric highlights the contours of dancers’ bodies, while the style is informal yet elegant. She has used metallic greys, and compares her vision for the piece to looking in a tarnished mirror.
Music: This piece is composed by Estonian Arvo Pärt, famed for his use of a technique he calls "tintinnabuli" (from the Latin, little bells).
